SPECTRUM INTERVIEW @ Signal and Noise 2008
Performing H2K

H2K was inspired by the 80th birthday of Karl Stockhausen and the 40th anniversary of the 1968 piece Kurzwellen (Short-wave). The 5 person orchestra includes radios (short-wave and other), electronic tone generators and multichannel-mixers, percussion and wind instruments. The piece is an improvisational response triggered by the unforeseen events received on the radios. The score is a set of pre-determined reactions using: pitch, duration, dynamics, timbre, density, & modulation. Each performance searches for extra-terrestrial radio reception.
